Parent Participation
At CHCP, families do more than drop their children off at the door; they become part of a community. Parents get to know teachers and one another, children see the important adults in their lives working together and connected to their school, and families have meaningful opportunities to contribute.
The Cooperative Experience: Preschool Is Better Together
Being a cooperative means families, teachers, administration, and the Board each contribute to CHCP in different and important ways. Parents share their time, talents, and perspectives; teachers bring their expertise and care; administration provides professional leadership; and the volunteer Board helps steward CHCP’s mission and long-term future.
Through this partnership, children experience cooperation as part of everyday school life, while parents gain a deeper understanding of their child’s educational experience and the community that surrounds them.
Parent Participation
Families are asked to contribute volunteer time each month, with many different ways to participate. Opportunities may include classroom and teacher support, community events, fundraising and philanthropy, communications and special projects, campus projects, committee or Board service, and sharing professional expertise.
The purpose is not simply to complete volunteer hours. Parent participation helps families know their child’s school more deeply, build relationships with teachers and other parents, and contribute to a community that belongs to all of us.
We also recognize that every family’s circumstances are different. CHCP offers a buyout option for parent participation, which families may choose on a monthly or quarterly basis.
