Enrollment FAQs

Common questions about applications, waitlists, placement criteria, schedules, and cooperative family life.

When should I apply?

As soon as possible. CHCP accepts applications on a rolling basis, and openings can arise at different times throughout the year.

What happens if there is not a space available?

Your application remains on file for future consideration. Families are asked to refresh their interest each spring.

How are placements made?

Placement decisions take into account current classroom needs, with priority given to siblings of currently enrolled children and children of CHCP staff.

Can we tour the school?

Tours are an opportunity for prospective families. When an appropriate space is available to offer your child, our team may also invite your family for an individual visit.

What schedules are available?

CHCP offers full-day (7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.) and three-quarter-day (7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.) options, with full-week and part-week schedules available. See Tuition & Financial Assistance for current options.

What happens if my child no longer naps?

We recognize that children have different rest needs. Children who still need a nap have a quiet space to sleep, while children who no longer nap participate in quiet time, outdoor play, and small-group activities.

Children moving into Big World begin as nappers. Non-napper groups are primarily for children who begin the school year at age 4 or 5 and will be heading to Kindergarten the following year.

Non-napper groups bring together children from different Gatherings, giving them opportunities to expand their friendships, spend time with different teachers, and explore a variety of activities and materials.

Do you offer financial assistance or accept childcare subsidies?

Yes. CHCP accepts childcare subsidies, and the application fee is waived for families applying with subsidy assistance. Limited financial assistance may also be available when resources allow. All requests are handled confidentially. Please contact us to learn more about available options.

Still have questions?
